Our Story
Visir Rising was born out of a desire to transform the way leadership is approached.
It also started with a simple question: Why? Why does it have to be like this?
Our founder, Eric Maxwell, spent over 20 years working for and with some of the most elite and high-performing government and civilian organizations. Even still, he noticed that bad leadership still outweighed the good. He saw the devastating effects of bad bosses and organizational culture on employee wellness and its limiting power over individuals and organizations to reach their full potential.
Eric himself suffered unknowingly through years of burnout and depression. But on his journey of self-discovery, he realized the impact that a negative work environment can have, and his naturally curious mind led him to this one crucial question: why does it have to be this way in the workforce?
This burning question drove him in the pursuit of an answer. As a leader himself, he set out to change it, challenge it when it surfaced, protect those affected by it, and understand it more deeply. He leveraged his experience and sought a deeper academic understanding, pursuing an undergraduate in organizational leadership and graduate studies in organizational psychology,
and through all of his experience and studies, he found that the answer to his question is: IT DOESN'T! But it does require someone to rise up and change it.
Eric has now assembled a team of like-minded leaders who now stand as the vanguard for that change.
As special operations veterans, we know firsthand the experience of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges and the depths one must reach for holistic wellness. We also know that individual wellness is often highly influenced by the leadership and culture of an organization.
We've seen the steady decline in the wellness and mental health of our national workforce and recognized the need for a new kind of leader—one who is self-aware, resilient, compassionate, steadfast, and deeply connected to the well-being and development of their people.
It is now our mission to eliminate bad bosses through providing sage guidance and world class training to forge inspirational servant leaders who will Rise Up and redefine the workforce experience.

Founder/CEO
Eric Maxwell
Eric is a dedicated husband and loving father of three. He is the Founder and CEO of Visir Rising LLC, an international best-selling author, speaker, and a certified ICF Master Professional Coach and Gallup Global Strength Coach.
He is also the founder of the #VisirRising movement, whose goal is to eliminate bad bosses and bring awareness to employee wellness and mental health, forever improving the employee experience.
Eric is also a decorated combat veteran and retired Marine Raider with a twenty-year career in Special Operations. Since bootcamp, Eric has taken on leadership positions. From his fellow recruits in training, to leading special operations teams around the globe, organizing and leading multi-national and interagency teams, and organizational leadership roles in executive positions, he has dedicated himself to serving and developing others to their own success. Not just a leader, he has also served as an advisor to some of the most senior military special operations, government, and political leaders worldwide, including U.S. Ambassadors, where his proven leadership and relentless drive for innovation have led to strategic effects within national objectives. He is now taking his experience, knowledge, and passion for people to help others achieve their own success.
